Alanreed Avenue was named by January 1951, predating the semi-stardom of character actor Alan Reed (the original voice of Fred Flintstone), so we can probably rule him out as namesake. Alan Reed might very well have been the name of a developer – or else Alan and Reed were the surnames of two developers. (Unusually for the time, there’s no tract map indicating who subdivided this land.) It’s even possible that this street is a nod to Alanreed, Texas, which supposedly took its own name (in 1902) from a railroad contracting firm called Alan & Reed.
