Although Allison is more commonly a woman’s name today, this 1886 street honors a young man: Allison T. Hall (1866-1887), whose older brother Everett (1854-1936) co-owned what was then called Angeleño Heights. There’s not much to learn about Allison Hall, given his brief life. Like his four siblings, he was born in Ionia, Michigan. He arrived in California in January 1886 and lived on nearby Bellevue Avenue with his father Henry and stepmother Sally. He died on September 15th of that year, three weeks shy of his 21st birthday. Everett Hall clearly admired his kid brother, not only awarding him with a namesake street but christening his only child Herbert Allison – Herbert being another Hall brother. Alas, two months after Allison’s untimely death (cause unknown), his baby nephew passed as well.
