Given its proximity to Santa Monica Airport, Clover Avenue was surely inspired by the airport’s 1923 birth name: Clover Field. The street itself was named much later: 1947, to be precise. Tiny Clover Street, on the Santa Monica side of the airport, was known as Clover Avenue before that.
