Lois Lane

There are a few streets called Lois Lane in California – one in San Pedro popped up in 1973 – but Long Beach’s Lois Lane is the only one that I can say with certainty was named after Superman’s better half. It was so decreed in 2007 after a petition from local resident Kate Karp, who was frustrated that this access road parallel to, but maddeningly separate from, Livingston Drive didn’t show up on GPS due to its anonymity. Her neighbor Robby Russell suggested “Lois Lane”, the community agreed, and the city’s planning commission approved it. Russell even wore a red cape to the hearing.
