This 1883 street was named for its developer, attorney George Smith Patton (1856-1927). If that name sounds familiar, it’s because his son George Smith Patton Jr. (1885-1945) was one of the most famous generals in World War II: he commanded American armed forces to victory in Europe and was later the subject of the 1970 movie Patton. For more on the Pattons, see Patton Way in San Marino, where little Georgie grew up.
