Fay Avenue

This street honors Alma Fay Dunn (1883-1966), who went by her middle name. Fay Avenue was born on a 1922 tract that she owned with her husband Will (1873-1951), a former salesman with the Cattaraugus Cutlery Co. (See Dunn Drive for more on him.) Alma Fay Cutting was born and raised in Bloomington, IL. She worked at the local high school as secretary to the principal before marrying Will A. Dunn in 1919. The newlyweds soon relocated to Los Angeles and had four daughters: Frances, Abigail (whose middle name was also Fay), Janet, and Adrienne. After a few years in the Palms neighborhood, the family moved to Hollywood for a spell, then wound up in Westwood.
