Frank Modugno Drive

Although this street is technically in Sylmar, honoree Frank Modugno (1920-1995) was born and raised in the city of San Fernando. After attending Washington State University, Modugno served in the Army during World War II, then came home and cofounded a beverage distribution business (Modugno Brothers). Among his many achievements, he was president of the San Fernando Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles Mission College Foundation, a trustee of Holy Cross Medical Center, and San Fernando’s Man of the Year (1966). Less than two months after Modugno died in a car crash, this new street was named in his memory; L.A. City Council preferred it over plain old “Metrolink Drive”.
