Lockheed View Drive

On September 14th, 1971, Burbank mayor Robert A. Swanson hosted a breakfast at the fabled Castaway restaurant to honor the Lockheed Corporation’s contributions to his city. There he announced plans to establish a “Lockheed lookout point” in the Starlight Bowl’s parking lot and a name for the road leading to said parking lot: Lockheed Drive. It was soon fleshed out to Lockheed View Drive because Burbank already had a Lockheed Drive at the airport. So no, Lockheed was never located in these hills, and the street offered no view of any Lockheed facilities (at least as far as I know; Lockheed left Burbank in the 1990s). It’s just a tribute to the company.
