Lois Lane

There are a few streets called Lois Lane in California – one in San Pedro popped up in 1974 – but the one in Long Beach is the only one we’re sure of that was named for Superman’s better half. It was so decreed in 2007 after a petition from local resident Kate Karp, who was frustrated that this service road alongside Livingston Drive didn’t show up on GPS due to its anonymity. Her neighbor Robby Russell suggested “Lois Lane”, the community agreed, and the planning commission approved it. Russell wore a red cape to the hearing.
