Magnolias do indeed grow along this particular Magnolia Avenue, and have for over a century: a Los Angeles Times article published on September 16th, 1900 cites the city of Riverside – whose own Magnolia Avenue was then celebrated for its beauty – sending Pasadena new magnolia trees to replace the dead or dying ones along this street, which was named by 1887.
