Miraleste Drive

“Miraleste” is a play on the Spanish phrase mira al este – “look to the east” – referring to the eastern-facing hillside of the 1923-1924 Miraleste subdivision. At that time, what we now know as Miraleste Drive was actually the southernmost extension of the mighty Western Avenue. That thoroughfare was rerouted in 1935-1936, at which point this road adopted the Miraleste name.
