Rindge Lane

Many of the streets on the 1906 Redondo Villa tract are named after famous Gilded Age industrialists. (See Carlson Lane for the shady character behind the tract.) Rindge Lane honors a local one: financier/philanthropist Frederick Hastings Rindge (1857-1905), who had passed away less than a year earlier. Rindge was born into wealth in Cambridge, MA and moved to Los Angeles in 1887. Five years later, he and his wife May K. Rindge purchased Malibu – the entire thing. See Playa del Rey’s Rindge Avenue for more biography.
