For 67 seasons, the golden-voiced Vincent Edward “Vin” Scully (1927-2022) served as official announcer for the Dodgers. Born and raised in New York City, Scully began his broadcasting career in 1947-1948 while a student at Fordham University. His skillful play-by-plays of Fordham games earned him a seat in the Brooklyn Dodgers radio/TV box in January 1950 and he became the team’s main announcer in 1954. Four years later, when the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles, Scully followed. With his eloquent and evocative commentaries, he soon became an L.A. institution. The former Elysian Park Avenue was officially renamed Vin Scully Avenue in April 2016; Scully retired six months later. Dodger Stadium is addressed at 1000 Vin Scully Ave.
