Arby Drive was laid out in 1962 on Benedict Woods, a 106 acre tract owned by the Hutton Development Co. While its directors and shareholders remain opaque (aside from a partner company owned by Joseph and Ruth Leipziger), I bet the name refers to Romaine Boardman Hutton (1912-1987), who owned land in these hills and named nearby Hutton Drive after himself in 1942. You’ll note that Hutton’s first two initials were R.B., pronounce “Arby”, so I believe he is this street’s namesake – and not a certain chain of roast beef sandwich shops.
