Named in 1905 on the Lakewood tract. Of the tract’s five listed owners, the one most likely to have christened this street was Lizzie Barrett Wadsworth Stearns (1868-1913). Not only did she and her husband Charles live right around the corner on Lake Avenue but both hailed from Barre, MA, a thirty mile drive from Boylston, MA. Indeed, the Boylston name is found throughout Massachusetts – Boylston Street is one of Boston’s main drags – as it comes from one of the state’s oldest and most prominent families. Patriarch Thomas Boylston (1644-1695) was a great-grandfather of President John Adams.
