This was never the site of a courthouse or anything like that; Court Street was originally called Bonita Court in 1906. Six decades later, in March 1966, the Monrovia Post Office asked the City Planning Commission to rename it because of postal confusion with Bonita Street. (Most of the latter byway lies in the city of Arcadia but there’s a little bit in Monrovia south of the 210.) Commissioner Robert Thomas suggested “Court Street” as a rather prosaic compromise, and so it was decreed.
