This 1953 street presumably honors Bernardino Jimenez (1925-2023) as three years earlier he was wedded to Clementina Nancy Ruggiero (1928-?), who lived with her orange-growing family on nearby Orcas Avenue. Jimenez Street and Ruggiero Avenue were named on the same tract, so there you go. Barney Jimenez was born and raised in Lincoln Heights, one of ten surviving children of Mexican immigrant parents. He was working as an upholsterer for a furniture company when he married Ruggiero. He went on to ply his trade at the Department of Water and Power from 1961 until his retirement in 1991.
