Since this is a dead end street with a little loop at the end to help cars turn around, Bel-Air developer Alphonzo Bell (or his wife Minnewa, or whoever they hired to name Bel-Air’s streets) might have been making a little joke – translating the Spanish word revuelta as “turn around”. Although vuelta does mean “turn”, revuelta actually translates as “revolt” – or in a culinary context, “scrambled/mixed up”. (Sounds like it was Bell who was mixed up!) They’re all etymologically related, just as “revolve” and “revolution” are related in English, but I wonder what native Spanish speakers must think when they turn onto “Revolt Way”.
