Suree Ellen Gould (1948-2020) was just five years old when her contractor father Albert (1899-1957) named this cul-de-sac in her honor. She was the only child for him and his wife Ethel (1910-1991), a sociologist who later specialized in single parenting issues – probably inspired by Albert’s untimely death. The Goulds themselves lived on Suree Ellen Lane. As for its namesake, Suree Gould earned her Bachelor’s at UCSB and her Master’s in psychology at Antioch University SB. She remained in the Santa Barbara area for the rest of her life and was active in local children’s theater – first as a performer, then as a director. To my knowledge, she never married or had kids.
