You’ll have to travel north of Franklin to see that Vista Street really does offer a vista – and indeed, it was this hilly terminus of the street that was first given the Vista name in 1901. Dr. Alan Gardner, namesake of neighboring Gardner Street, owned the land and probably coined Vista himself. The street originally ended just north of Sunset; Between Sunset and Fountain, on land also owned by Gardner, it was called Orchard Avenue from 1905 to around 1910.
