It’s just a little nubbin now, mostly destroyed by the 101 freeway, but 1893’s John Street honors someone who was then very big in these parts: John Scott Maltman (1840-1923), an attorney and real estate developer who co-owned a tract here with Clara Shatto. (There was also a Saint Clara Street on the tract, but it was gone by 1914.) See Maltman Avenue for a bio.
