Lewis Road

Named (by 1923) after George and Minnie Lewis, whose ranch “Gracia Park” was subdivided in 1924 by the Colodny twins. George E. Lewis (1857-1932) was a lifelong Californian, born in Marysville and raised in the Lompoc area. He married Minnie A. Danforth (1863-1933), a Wisconsin native, in 1888; he was living in then-rural Florence at the time. In 1901, the Lewises settled on their ranch here, where they raised four daughters and a son, Erwin. After their property was subdivided (first dubbed “Independence”, then rebranded “Independence Acres”, it eventually became Agoura Hills), George and Minnie spent the rest of their lives on Erwin’s ranch in Buellton.
