Sierra bonita is Spanish for “pretty mountain range”, but this street was born just a little south of the Hollywood Hills: it was named on a 1911 tract that stretched between Fountain and Sunset. North and south of the tract, there was a different street known as Pacific Avenue. (It existed on the tract as well – but one block west of Sierra Bonita, where Curson is now located.) After some years of confusion, Pacific was eradicated in 1925 and the whole street became Sierra Bonita.
